The Results Are In

The votes are in and it seems that the majority of you want me to create a pattern for a boy. It may be a bit before I get to this as I have received TONS of orders lately. I am thankful for the business, but feeling a bit overwhelmed. I have a 10 hour drive to Gettysburg next week, so I am sure I will be able to catch up.

So, now the big question is WHAT to make for a boy....it tempts me to run another vote, but I think I can come up with something. I chatted with my sisters about it and got some good ideas. Please be patient as I try to keep my head above water and stay tuned for the free pattern!

Time To Vote

Thank you for all of your ideas of what to create for the Crochet Pattern Challenge. There were so many great suggestions that I am asking for your help to help me decide what to create. Vote below on which item you would like me to create a free pattern for. Voting will be over July 27 and then I will reveal which item has won and which one I will get to work on! Happy voting!

Crochet Pattern Challenge

I haven't posted a free pattern in awhile. One of my many purposes of this blog was to provide a place where fellow crocheters could find some cute patterns that they fall in love with and use over and over again. One of my most favorite crochet blogs is ValliesKids. She provides loads of free patterns, as well as great photography of her girls wearing what she has made!

I am working on designing a pig hat pattern to sell in my Etsy shop, but I wanted to design something I could provide for free to those who follow my blog. My question for you is what would you like a free pattern of? Is it a baby headband? Another type of beanie? Whatever it is, I'd LOVE to hear it. It will be a great challenge for me to figure out how to create what you would like...and I pray I will be able to! I can give it a shot and hopefully I won't have to admit defeat.

So, let me hear it! :-) I'll get my needles ready!

Beautiful Belle

Two posts in three days! I am REALLY on top of things now! :-)

I am so excited to share these photos. I apologize to those of you who follow my family blog, as I will be posting these pics (and some others) on that site soon. These photos are being posted here because they feature the Flower Shell Stitch Beanie I made for Belle's 9 month pics and I wanted to share how it turned out in the pics.

First of all, I need to give a huge shout out to Kate Krueger! Kate and I went to high school together and our husbands were college roommates. She has an amazing gift for photography and I can't get enough of her work. These photos are compliments of Kate. You can see more of work here: kate krueger [photography]

This was also an opportunity to show of my girl :-) I love any chance to show off those fat cheeks and huge dimples! My favorite is her smile where she scrunches her nose!

Enjoy!

Marabou and Owls

I know that I have still not been the best at updating my blog, but life around the Thompson Joint has been busy!

If you follow my Facebook Fan page you may have seen me asking for some prayers for my friends, Liz and Mike. Liz is currently 28 weeks pregnant and has been having contractions. The poor girl has been in the hospital since Monday as they have been working to stop the preterm labor. Last update is that she is staying yet another night, but they are hopeful she can go home tomorrow on restricted activity. I believe in the power of prayer and I have been asking everyone to pray for them as this seems to be an exhausting process and they just want to keep that little one is as long as they can so she can come out healthy and strong without concerns. Thanks so those who have already been praying!

On another note, things in the crochet world were at a lull, and now they are full speed ahead! I had a week without a single order and then got orders left and right! I will not complain, though. I have finally saved up enough to buy new counter tops. They come in next week and I promise to show before and after pics! Seriously, YOU WILL NOT BELIEVE the awful choice of counter top the builders picked.

I have made up a new hat style and bought a new hat pattern. I am excited to share them, as I think they turned out well. This first one is a Marabou Earflap hat. It was easy to modify the monkey hat I do by simply adding the marabou to the top instead of ears. Completely different look that adds a lot of flare!

The second hat is an Owl Earflap Hat. I just purchased this pattern and my friend, Lindsy, asked if I could make her one to give as a gift. I was glad to be able to try it out! Why is it that hats that look like animals are so stinking cute??

Not Much To Say

I haven't posted in over a week, so I thought I would just let you all know that I am still here :-) The past week has been a whirlwind, which has made it hard to get much crocheting done. Thursday Paul and I both got the flu. It is sure hard to take care of a 9 month old when both parents are sick. We sort of did shifts. Thank goodness for naps and an early bedtime! We were both feeling better by the end of the day..for the most part.

This weekend was spent doing crafty things around the house! Paul and I have become obsessed with Knock Off Wood, so we built furniture for our new deck. It was so much fun! He does all the building and I read him the instructions. It is my job to do the finishing, although I hate to paint.

Our holiday was low-key. We hung out at my sister's pool and just relaxed. It was nice to take a time away from our work and job responsibilities and to just enjoy each other!

So, I am getting back into the swing of my world of crochet today. I got a time sensitive order to complete, so I better get going to start! I just wanted to make sure everyone knew that I was still alive and I have not given up my love of crochet :-)
