Zoo Babies

Our next hat collection is starting, and the goal is to raise 500 animal hats! I CANNOT wait to start finding these in my mailbox! I am even more excited to be able to bring them up to the NICU at Helen DeVos Children's Hospital!

I had been hoping to post patterns and links to patterns written by myself and others, and I am so thankful for those who have designed patterns for this next collection! You are such a blessing to this project and to all of those families who will receive our hats. You can find our list of patterns below. PLEASE keep checking back, because I am hoping to add more as designers get back to me.

I think it would be awesome if we shared with everyone what has been made.  You can either post it to the Rosie's Cozies Facebook Page, OR use #rosiescozies for Instagram or Twitter.

I would like to have all hats to be sent in by March 23rd (or so). This will give me time to deliver them by Easter and bless all those babes with some cute little hats :-)  Hats being sent to me can be mailed to the address below, or I TOTALLY understand if you want to send them to your own local NICU:
Rosie's Cozies
6026 Kalamazoo Ave SE #119
Kentwood, MI 49508

Thank you again to all of our designers, as well as those of you who plan on making hats.   I know that they will be a huge blessing to the families who receive them.  I think I am most excited about this collection than any other that we have done so far!

One quick reminder!  The hat patterns below are written for preemie size.  Do not be afraid to go up a hook or down a hook to make hats in all different sizes.  The NICU needs hats for babies as small as 1lb and as large as 10+lbs.  Babies grow quickly, and as they get bigger they will need larger hats.

Okay, get those hooks ready, because I know you are going to want to make at least one of each of the adorable hats below!

Deanna from Dandy Mountain Boutique created the following hats.  She does not have a blog, but be sure to show her some love at her Facebook page.  Below you can find the links to the pdfs:

Three Little Monkeys

I had an order to make two of these for a set of twins. Aren't they cute? I basically made up three so my friend's mom could decide which pairing she liked...both purple with different color flowers, OR two different color hats with flowers that match the other hat. I personally can't decide which I like best! The green and purple makes them a little less matchy-matchy, but when you have twins you almost want them to be major matching, so then both purple hats would be good. Haha, enough rambling on and showing my indecisive! My friend's mom is also ordering a little boy monkey hat for the brother of these twin girls. TOOOO CUTE! Their family will really have three little monkeys!

On a side note, Jessica from Village Kids talked to me yesterday about a very exciting event! On Tuesday Fox 17 News is going to do a story on them and would like some of the vendors with things in their store to be a part of the story! They want to showcase mothers who sell their items at Village Kids and talk a bit about Etsy. Jessica asked if I would like to be a part of everything and of course I said yes! My biggest worry now is figuring out what to wear!

Don't forget about the giveaway at Fingerprints on the Fridge! She picks a winner tomorrow so put in your entry soon!

Back Home

Paul and I just returned home from a fabulous trip to Vegas! It was a much needed getaway and gave us a chance to focus on each other and to have some space from Belle. I missed her like crazy, but it was a great chance to come home refreshed and ready to be a better mom.

Now, don't think that I took a break from crocheting! If anything, it was a great chance for me to do what I love without having the responsibility of household chores hanging over my head or putting the crochet hook down to take care of my baby girl. I sat back, relaxed, and hooked away! The flight to Vegas was 3 hours and I sure took advantage. I made a baby cocoon, made up a new hat pattern, and made some headway on some orders I need to complete. My favorite completed project was this number:

I bought this pattern from Angels Chest. She has the cutest things and her patterns are so easy to follow. I am so happy with how this turned out and can't wait to make more in multiple colors! I finished this on Saturday while laying out at the pool. Seriously, does it get any better? Laying in the sun, having a cool drink, and crocheting like a crazy woman!

On another note, remember the pom pom booties and hat I made? Well, look how they turned out when put on a little one. So cute!

Monkeying Around

I am so happy with how this turned out! I changed the edging yarn to the Red Heart Light & Lofty because I thought it added a "furry" feel to the hat and made it look more like a monkey! The hardest part of this was lining up with ears! My goodness I struggled. If anyone has any good ideas on how to sew these on straight I would appreciate it! I hope to get a picture of a little munchkin wearing this soon, so stay tuned. Hats without a baby head just don't look near as cute!

I plan to sell this one for $17.00. I can make these in up to 24 months.
I can't wait to make a few in girly colors with the ears, and of course to add a flower to it too. Wouldn't a little pink money hat be too cute?
