Preemie Patterns

Below is are links to patterns I have found for preemies and micro preemies.  I haven't tried out all of these, but felt it might be helpful to consolidate some of these patterns in one spot.  Please feel free to let me know how these work up!

Please try to add a cute embellishment, or something special to the hat to make the hat unique and more than just another random and quick whipped up hat.  Rose's mom mentioned that this is the only "outfit" Rose was really able to wear, so please try to add a little personality to your creation.  This can be done with a flower, adding ears, adding stripes, a brim, a different stitch, sports team colors, a basketball, a pom pom, etc.

  1. I wish I had found this site earlier, when my wee one was born - eight weeks early, going home seven days later (yes, we were THAT blessed) weighing a whopping 3lbs 7oz. I'd have whipped her up warm clothing that actually fit her! I'm making some for the hospital that delivered us - thank you for posting the pattern!!

  2. If you use the felt buttons from the craft store, you will not have any hard surfaces on the precious little hats...and they have such cute shapes, you can include them in the design.

  3. Wish we had known you when we had our triplets. They were six weeks early and wore many hats for quite a while till they were able to regulate their body temperatures on their own. You do beautiful work and I am very happy to have found this website! :)

  6. Will use most of these as I crochet and knit hats for my local NICU

  7. In making items for NICU sized preemies, we've found not only did the parents enjoy them, but the nurses and therapists also "made over" the babies, talking and cooing more to those who were "dressed up" with a hat or booties.

  8. I can't find any other sites regarding donations to the Helen DeVos NICU, is this still an active site? (The last post was January 17, just wanted to be sure before I go sending hats) :)
